What to do in the Dordogne?

Each cottage has its own garden and barbecue grill, and is heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. The farmhouse cottages are spacious… The pool is also heated, and there is a 4-5 person jacuzzi and a game room.

Each holiday cottage has its own garden and barbecue grill, and is heated in the winter – open and closed iserts, or reversible AC – and naturally air conditioned in the summer thanks to its large walls and huge ceilings. The farmhouse cottages are spacious… The pool is also heated, and there is a 4-5 person jacuzzi. A game room and common area offer table tennis, table football, board and party games, a massage chair, croquet, Mölkky, boules, darts, and more. Bicycles are also available for use free of charge, as well as books in English and French. Whatever your fancy and whatever the season, you will have to try hard to be bored, even off season: we do everything in our power to make you want to come back!

All the holiday cottages have a flat screen TV, a stereo system, a Nespresso machine, a SodaStream machine to make your own soda water, a well appointed, functional kitchen, a private garden with a barbecue grill, and tasteful furnishings, and there are a total of 12 bathrooms for 13 bedrooms. All the cottages are fitted to maintain a comfortable temperature all year long. Sheets, towels and dish towels are included in the price, along with housekeeping at the end of your stay.

Hiking, trips along the Dordogne on a barge or in a horse-drawn carriage, caves (Proumeyssac 3 km, Tourtoirac 68 km and Padirac 63 km) and 15 remarkable gardens including Marqueyssac (8 km) and Eyrignac (26 km)

Périgord means 70 historical monuments, 13 sites on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, more than 25 prehistoric caves, shelters and deposits. It is also the land of foie gras, truffles, strawberries, Monbazillac (another château worth a visit) and Bergerac.

Périgord is overflowing with a wide variety of sites spanning 400,000 years of history:

– Prehistoric caves and shelters, including the famous Lascaux Caves near the village of Montignac (44 km). Autumn 2016 is slated to see the opening of Lascaux 4.

Vézère Valley (the « Valley of Men ») and Les Eyzies (the « Capital of Prehistory »)

Prehistory museums: Les Eyzies (29 km), Périgueux (73 km) and Château de Sauveboeuf (40 km)

– Châteaux:

Périgord is the land of 1,000 castles

Beynac (9 km), Castenaud-la-Chapelle (8 km), Les Milandes (12 km), Biron (46 km), Hautefort (67 km), Fénelon (20 km), Losse (42 km), Puymartin (19 km), Commarque (19 km), Puyguilhem (109 km) and Monbazillac (75 km) are some of the most spectacular or engaging among them. Nor is the Château de Montaigne (113 km) in the far west of the department without its own charms.
