The Burague Cottages are based in the heart of Périgord Noir, in what is known as the « Golden Triangle » – an incredible concentration of natural, cultural and culinary heritage, and a no less impressive variety of sporting and children’s activities.

Within a radius of 60 km, you will find seven of the most beautiful villages in France, 13 fortified medieval towns (bastides), five cave-dwelling sites, 25 prehistoric caves and shelters including Lascaux and Les Eyzies, nine châteaux, three remarkable gardens, and 13 sites on the World Heritage List. Gentle and surprising landscapes, sometimes spectacular but always well preserved. In the heart of Périgord Noir, 15 km from Lot: the remarkable sites of Rocamadour and the Caves of Padirac are less than an hour away by car.

The sporting activities include golf, tennis, canoeing, beaches, microlight aeroplanes, hot air balloons, hiking, horse riding, and more… not to mention the activities offered at the cottages. If you are feeling inquisitive, explore one of the region’s many festivals (music, theatre, dance and cinema).

In terms of fine dining, Périgord is the land of foie gras and truffles, but also of honey, walnuts, cheese and strawberries, plus Bergerac and Monbazillac wine. The Michelin Guide counts no fewer than nine starred restaurants, not to mention the 11 « Gourmet Bibs ». After visiting Périgord’s 47 farmers’ markets, you will understand why it’s so hard to dine badly here!

And as the icing on the cake, you will encounter a lifestyle based on natural kindness and independence. Here, people will look you in the eye, drivers are courteous, and you will find help more readily than anywhere else. Unsurprisingly, Dordogne is also one of the safest departments of France. Here, you will feel at ease.
