A charming gîte that will charm you

It is therefore a small and comfortable gîte, but with a living area of 100 m². We propose it for 4 persons, in order to preserve the calm of the property. This independent building was originally a barn. It faces the chartreuse, which is a manor house with the same configuration as the Moulinsart castle, but without stairs and without a Mansard roof. We transformed part of the ground floor of the barn into a games room, keeping the other part and the whole length of the first floor for the gîte. But the restoration has taken great care to keep the exposed beams of the 18th century roof structure.

But as pleasant as it is, would you like to go back in time? From the depths of the Périgord, 4,000 centuries look down on you. To discover the Périgord is to discover our ancestors in a way, from prehistory to the 18th century, via the Romans or the Middle Ages. And as travelling through these tens of thousands of years of human presence is not something you can do in one or two weeks, we have put together a selection of the most important/interesting sites and they are classified by distance from your gîte. Here it is.

And as we are only 15 km from the Lot, the more adventurous can go as far as Rocamadour or the Pech Merle caveto go down into the impressive Padirac chasm or visit the village of Saint Cirq Lapopie.

Why is our gîte Jardins du Périgord a "green gîte"?

Yes, you can combine ecology and aesthetics, responsible holidays and pleasant holidays.

For years, we have made our gîte Jardins du Périgord a green gîte, a bit like Mr Jourdain making prose ? without knowing it. It was when we added up all our micro-choices that we realised that we were well on the way to making the ecological transition to eco-responsible accommodation (without being perfect, of course).

Here is what we are doing so that together we can reduce our ecological footprint in general and our carbon footprint in particular:

Design of the lodge and materials

- Double glazing on most windows

- Attic insulation with hemp

- Old stone barn with exposed timber frame and chestnut parquet flooring on the first floor.

- Garden furniture: acacia, not plastic

Energy

A large part of the electricity produced is supplied by our solar panels, especially in the hot summer months. This makes it possible to power the air conditioning, for example, which is essential on hot days. This shows that ecology is not always the enemy of comfort!
